JailBreak 2010

I also have me and Kaleb signed up to do the Jailbreak 2010. It is 3.8 miles, and I can't wait!!!! Looks like SOOOO much fun!!! Some of my other friends are signed up too !!!
It isn't until Sept. 18 :)


DFW Red Nose Run 5k

I signed me, Kaleb and Hayley up for the DFW Red Nose Run on the 22nd. This will be Hayley's FIRST ever 5k !!! And Kaleb's first "run" since his surgery!

Week 1 : 1/10 - 1/16

Since I really slacked on the running the end of last year, I am going to try and be better this year.  I am starting this week.... I plan on doing 3 days of walking/ running and 2 days of something other (ie. Wii fit, tennis, ect.)


I am also going to start my Wednesday weigh in ...


Week 1

Day 1 :
·          5 min. brisk walk warm-up
·         60 sec. jogging
·         90 sec. walking
·         TOTAL 20 minutes
Day 2:
·         5 min. brisk walk warm-up
·         60 sec. jogging
·         90 sec. walking
·         TOTAL 20 minutes
Day 3:
·         5 min. brisk walk warm-up
·         60 sec. jogging
·         90 sec. walking
·         TOTAL 20 minutes

Training Day 11

5 min warmup ... intervals of .. 60 sec run, 90 sec walk
Guess who congratulated me  on beating my personal best mile time???

It was thru my headphones ... and Nike + ... I was super exciting :)  And let me tell you ... if he was looking like that waiting at the finish line ... I would be running ALOT faster !! :)

Treadmill

5 min. walking warmup... 10 sec running, 50 sec walking-10 sec running, 50 sec walking... repeated until 2 miles complete 

Treadmill vs Road running

A friend asked me why I prefer running on the treadmill opposed to running on the road... well, here are my reasons...
  • treadmill is in the AC -- it is HOT here in Texas
  • I don't have to get as much together to go run ... I don't have to get the camelback, hat, etc.
  • I can wear whatever I want (ie. sports bra and bike shorts)
  • I keep pace better
  • I don't have to pay attention to cars, dogs or whatever else is around me.
  • I could watch TV if I want to.. watch some of the shows I have DVR'd. (aka. multitasking)
  • Did I already mention ... it is not as HOT
The only reasons I can find to run outside are....
  • I seem to run farther .. I guess you always have to get back home ..lol
  • Sometimes it is nice to see something other than a white wall

Training Day 7

Today run I ventured outside and ran in my neighborhood.  It was HOT outside!!  I can't wait till Fall gets here !! 

When I got up this morning, I really didn't expect I would run today.  I was just feeling blah !  Then when I decided to do it outside .. well, I had to find the Camelback, then my hat.. oh and my shades ! That alone would have given me a great excuse to not go.. but I did it anyway!!  I am really proud of myself!!!

Bike ride - 3 miles

Today it took alot of motivation to get on the treadmill !! We had a bbq and I ate way too much and didn't want to run at all !!! But... I got on the treadmill and did it !! ( I am patting myself on the back) I normally listen to an audiobook when I run, but today I decided to listen to a 10k training thing I downloaded on iTunes. I did alot better, felt like I got a good workout!

After I did my 2 miles ( wanted to do 4 but just couldn't do it) Kaleb wanted me to go run with him ... I told him I would ride my bike ..cause I couldn't keep up with him ! Soo, I rode my bike .. actually me, Rik and Hayley rode our bikes. We did 3 miles ! I am going to be soooo sore tomorrow.

Nike Human Race 10k

Me and Kaleb registered for the 10k. Kaleb will do it with out a problem cause he runs alot for cross country... me on the other hand .... I am out of shape .. unless you consider round a shape :)
